 Just got this toy today but have no experience with PTZ cams. I have the RJ45 plugged in to an NVR 5416-16P-4kS2.

There are other wires for alarm, audio and power but not connected for now...

I thought the POE on the NVR would be enough...

On the camera interface the protocol DH-SD1. On the NVR I'm not sure what protocol to set it on. I set "General" for protocol on the NVR and only the zoom function works.

No pan or tilt. I tried on the NVR interface and the camera.

If you cant get it to pan/tilt on the camera directly then its not the NVR..

it shoulda worked out of box, go into the PTZ WebUI and reset it all to defaults..

I have a POE injector i use to test most cams. It's 48V and .35 amps. It's not powering up the cam.

The power brick AC adapter they sent me is AC24 volts and 3 amps with a plug on one end suposed to plug in the cam. The cam didn't come with a plug. Just bare wires.

I can only use the web UI through the NVR to set default.

I think there is a default button on the cam.

Your PoE injector is not PoE+, this camera requires more than the ~17W that injector can supply..

cut the ends off the ac brick adapter and wire it up to the bare wires on the PTZ, there is no polarity.

I'd avoid the physical default button on the camera, thats known to remove english hacks if its really a Chinese model.

OK. Let me try that. Thanks...

In the final install am I going to have to run a power wire with the network cable also....??

hopefully not, it should take PoE from your NVR.. as it claims to output up to 24W per port.. which is enough for that camera.

another thing you can try for direct access to camera, is plug your laptop/pc into the back of the NVR and it should be on the same network as the cameras and able to talk to em.

since your having issues and were in troubleshooting routine, using the supplied power brick is a good idea to help rule out the possibility the camera is being underpowered.. because it will act alot like you describe if its not getting enough current.

does it do the calibration dance at bootup?

if its just a bad config then it'll work once we figure out what bit to flip, use the ac adapter to get a direct connection to camera and see if all the controls work.. if not then go into setup and put the entire thing back into defaults.

if the controls do work with the ac adapter when directly connected camera, plug it back into NVR w/AC power and see if it works.

I have it connected to the brick power supply.

Connectiing directly through a laptop with 10.1.1.75.

I can log in and everything looks good but can't pan or tilt...

what browser are you using? just to rule that out you can try to use SmartPSS

Still connected to laptop until I get this working.

I noticed when I try to set to default it says "Operate Failed"

I'm using firefox with all the required add ons..

The zoom is working fine. I see the lens going in and out when I hit the button.

I got the default to work. Setting up Smart PSS now. Thanks for the link NAYR.

I might end up sending this back. :(

When I power up the camera it looks like its doing a system check and turns a couple times and then tilts and focus.

yeah that indicates the mechanisms work, still not responding to your pan/tilt commands through the WebUI or SmartPSS?

seems to indicate a software fault of some kind, I'm not finding alot of info on this model.. might reach out to your vendor for support, mebe they will give you a firmware update tha'll get it operational.

you've ruled out bad power/config/browser plugin.. everything is pointing at firmware fault of some sort.. good luck, never seen this issue before.

glad you got it working, whats your version number read now? just for anyone whom might have this issue in the future.
