Best practice for setup of Hikvision NVR/Cameras

Hi guys,

I run into problem with camera/NVR setup so I spent a lot of time trying to figure out problem. What didn't helped me is very confusing configuration for cameras and NVR, which on the moment seemed buggy, unsynchronized, repetitive. So far I figured out this ways to configure cameras:

1) Camera web admin page
2) NVR web admin page (then select camera to remote config)
3) NVR GUI on monitor/TV (then remote config)
4) IVMS 4200 PC/Mac client application (then remote config)

I found out that using IVMS is even more complex as same thing can be done on different place within app. So what is preferred place to setup camera and camera settings? What is best practice to add and setup new camera into system?

do it all thru the NVR GUI and be done with it.

I personally think NVR GUI is best. Just use IVMS for live playback and remote view.

Camera web admin has a few more options if you wanna play with that.

There are settings for the cameras that may only be available through the camera's browser interface (depending on your firmware), I use it first.
IVMS 4200 PC/Mac client application is typically for those without a NVR so I have no need for it.
