Curious what the best practices are for setting up cameras for triggered video storage within Blue Iris. I have 4 Amcrest POE cameras connected to a main location using a wireless access point a 100 yards away. The windows computer seems to be pegged at 100% CPU all the time and some of the video can be "jumpy" at times. It is an older computer (5 years old) so I'm not opposed to getting a new, more powerful one but want to make sure it will help. I have read through these forums and did some searches and see a lot about writing the recordings directly to file. Not sure how or why that works but curious. Also I have read that using triggers is a CPU hog and that maybe saving all of the video is the way to go but I need 60 days worth of recordings so that seems like a lot of TB for storage. I use logmein to access the Blueiris computer as multiple people need access to the videos. I am sure I'm doing it wrong and want to learn so any help would be appreciated!

What computer is it - make/model and i number and gen number if Intel?

Many computer much older than that are still very viable machines.

You must do the optimizations - direct-to-disc and substreams are a must.
