Best ready-to-go Blue Iris Computers / setups

There is a lot of talk about i5 processors' new and old versions, different hardware issues with Dell computers, etc. Is there a good standard for processor / hardware combo that is not a gazillion dollars? Id like to run perhaps up to 6-8 cameras- all wired.

Between the two, I would recommend the dell because of the warranty. Also because Windows 8 is fully compatible with Blue Iris' hardware accelerated decoding while Windows 7 won't let you run BI in service mode with hardware acceleration, but that is a minor point because you could upgrade either system to Windows 10 for free.

I had this exact computer on my watch list for 2 days but stumbled across and won an auction on an i5 4690 3.5 ghz for $250 instead. eBay is a wonderful place.

In a perfect world, Id like to be around 300-400 dollars. The computers above seem to fit the bill, but I dont see they have HDMI or DVI video outputs. I use a flat screen TV for viewing and for some reason, i can't get the VGA to work on it. Also, does anyone know the max RAM this computer will take. Googling it seems most only have 4GB max. These computers give me a great place to use as a foundation. Thanks.

EDIT: I do see they have Displayport, but I didn't even know what that was-- I see I can buy an adapter for 11 dollars on Amazon. Cool!

Yep. Displayport is a relatively new thing, used mostly by high end computer monitors, and as you've noticed there are plenty of adapters! I even have an adapter that outputs HDMI 2.0 which I can use to feed my 4K tv at 60hz.

This website thinks the Optiplex 7020 has 4 RAM slots and supports a maximum of 32 GB (four 8 GB sticks): http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/optiplex-7020-(small-form-factor) Hard to say if it would support 16 GB sticks or not, but I doubt you even want to try

I picked up an i5-4670, 8Gb ram (up to 32Gb) computer from eBay for $204, added a refurb 4Tb WD Purple hard drive for $99, and a 64Gb SSD I already had sitting around and it rocks Blue Iris very nicely. I am used to building PCs but this was significantly cheaper than rolling my own.
