Just received a new Hikvision NVR- DS-7608NI-I2/8P and having trouble with remote viewing setup.

After some searching it appears a lot has changed in the last couple of years, i.e., inability to use the required "Web Components" plugin with different browsers.

Could I get recommendations for the best current setup for remote viewing please? I've tried Internet Explorer and Chrome with no luck. I also understand that Firefox has now abandoned the plugin...

Help please?

Thanks,

Tony

Hi
I use iVMS 4200 download the newest one for your os

DOWNLOAD PORTAL

for mobile use the ivms-4500 from the app store or play store

also to add to this use http://hik-connect.com
and use this to use for outside your house etc. that way you don't need to open any ports, my nvr had 200x failed logins when I opened the port up once. so I had to set ip this way it's much more safer
I attached a screen shot on where to set this up in the nvr just make an account at http://hik-connect.com and then enter your device s/n and you need to make a Verification Code up on the nvr as it's a password that talks to http://hik-connect.com

Although this method is easier, it is much less secure. The CCTV hardware, for all vendors, have had backdoors discovered.

Use a VPN and only forward the Internet traffic to the VPN service.

Take a look here on doing this: VPN Primer for Noobs

Having some trouble with the iVMS 4200 install...

I have no live view. The device management install wizard is detecting the NVR and shows an ip address of 54.152.37.63.
However, the www.hik-connect.com site shows a totally different address for the NVR, that being my router ip address.

Additionally, neither of these addresses matches the ipv4 address of the NVR, which is 192.168. 254.27
My understanding of ip addresses not great, but it seems very strange that all of the addresses differ.

Any help appreciated.
