I have used the above option since I first purchased BI v4 well over 1 year ago. Recently I disabled this option and upgraded to V5. After several days I realized I had not re-enabled this option. I did so last night and all went really bad. All my cameras stopped recording and the Status log showed "Disk not Ready" each time any of my cameras tried to record (or take a snapshot). Changing the clips/database/snapshot location to another drive made no difference. Even though I had numerous clips and alerts, when I loaded the ui3.htm I was told there were no clips/alerts. The minute I disabled this option all cameras started to record again and the Status log showed no errors. The ui3 once again show all my clips/alerts.
This morning I decided I would do a more thorough test. I removed every clip/snapshot and rebuilt/repaired the DB. I then re-eneable the Windows Service option and rebooted. As soon as the PC came back up I checked to make sure the service was actually running. It was. I started the BI console and as before, all recordings had stopped. The Status log showed the same "Disk not ready" error. And as before, disabling the option and restarting BI resolved the problem.
I am currently running V5.0.0.56 x64
