Wasn't the first time, won't be the last. Found other articles (maybe the same one?) available on other sites:

Yup spot on and hope others can appreciate the incredible achievement by this company as it relates to miniaturization of a nuclear power generator.

Thanks for sharing a open link.

Lastly, appreciate you providing insight and clarity for the forum members as it relates to the different abbreviations and phrases as it relates to storage (Edge Recording) and the N topology frame work.

I believe it’s always important to share new information and knowledge on any topic. Even though it’s not directly related to the OP’s question it certainly ties into the overall discussion as to next steps.

From the above article, a couple of excerpts:

"But proponents say there’s simply no other way to replace most of the world’s current fossil fuels. If we stop burning coal and natural gas in power plants, we’ll need something else, and renewable energy just can’t cover everything. Renewable energy is not appropriate or accessible to every community in need of a decarbonized energy solution. This is the market where small, modular nuclear reactors have arrived."
“Especially as the global community suffers from crises such as volatile energy prices and climate-related extreme weather events, the need for zero-carbon energy solutions like NuScale’s small modular reactors has been greater than ever,” says Hughes.

IMO, the biggest hurtle before this tech can have any hope of survival and progress is to keep the current WH Admin from smashing it to bits to help further their EV agenda. This tech makes their Green New Deal / Zero carbon footprint drivel look really, REALLY bad. :blankstare:

I can't speak to the political aspects but can say if such technology can bring power to remote locations where it didn't exists. Or where the costs in doing so far exceeds anything a sane person would invest in.

This will be ground breaking and will open new doors for lots of people and projects.

A perfect example is (IF) humans ever colonize another planet. If this reactor has been proven to be safe & reliable it will allow man to occupy another planet without fear of having to mine it or bring it along. Obviously, they would need to scale it or run them in parallel for a measure of output capacity and redundancy.

But, the key point is this could be a solid band aid / stop gap to allow something much larger to be built on site. A person / team wouldn't need to worry about running out power in a reasonable near term. All the while working toward to deploy a much larger nuclear reactor to sustain a larger facility / human population.

Sadly, I believe this won't ever see the day of light because nuclear has a massive black eye in terms of its use.
