BI CPU Usage

I have a new installation of BI and it is running 21 cameras set to trigger off motion. My CPU Usage is through the roof in the range of 64% to 100% at all times from BI.

My PC specs are as follows

Win 8.1 Pro
Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 @ 3.2 GHz
16 GB of ram
64 BIT

What in BI is consuming my CPU? Any tips on enhancing the performance?

You MUST use direct to disk recording if you are using many high res cameras. in EACH camera record tab>file format.
Also, use the blue iris dvr container.
You can also limit the live preview rate in blue iris options >cameras.
What resolution and frame rates are you running those cameras at?
Blue iris will be releasing hardware acceleration at the end of the month which should improve things as well.

When you say direct to disk, all new clips are saved to a local SSD drive. Is that what you mean?

What is "dvr container", Help does not mention it

I cut the live preview rate in half. It helped but not really a lot

I have the cameras at the max frame rate

Combined is between 6-7 mB/s, this PC and software should be easily able to handle this.

Yes. The throughput is irrelevant. Its all about the camera resolution and frame rate. I am referring to blue iris settings. Follow the directions I posted above and you will see settings for direct to disk and blue iris dvr. Direct to disk is a MUST.
Also, reduce your fps to 15...30fps is overkill for most situations.

While in Blue Iris, click on a camera, then right click and select Camera Properties>Record > Video File Format and Compression > (Select) Direct-to-disk

In addition, your processor it a little weak to be running 22 cameras on BI especially at some of those frame rates. I run an ancient i-7 3770 and I run 23 cameras at an average frame rate of 6FPS and my processor load (when not recording) is approximately 40%.

How many MP is each of your cameras?

As an experiment try reducing all of your cameras to 4FPS and let us know the result.

direct to disk made a big difference. I'm going to run for a few days and hopefully it doesn't freeze
