BI doesn't use all my computer's power when exporting...

I exported approx 8 minutes worth of video (only 85MB exported file), and it took BI almost 11 minutes to export! I've got a beefy Rig too.

Here's a screenshot

Why's this and how can we improve it?

There’s much more than just the CPU when you export, it has to read the file, then re-encode which is where you CPU comes into play and then it has to write the encoded clip.

So why would you expect all of your CPU to be used? If you look at the re-encode frame rate it’s looks like a healthy almost 60fps that it’s processing.

Another thing to consider is BI isn’t a purpose built re-encoder.

Plus if it used all the CPU for an export, then it wouldn't be recording or would be laggy crap during the export.

Personally I would rather BI functionality work while exporting than shut down the entire process just to export faster.

Check the 2-pass box and it will go faster.

2-pass is to help web browsers stream an MP4 file, not to make the encode faster.

Blue Iris likely doesn't use all the CPU for encoding specifically because that would starve all the other parts of Blue Iris of the CPU time they need.
