BI Finding Amcrest Cams, but not EmpireTech

So i've got my blueiris setup with 3 amcrest cameras, different models. All of them connected flawlessly via web browser and BI. Since everyone praises the Empire cameras I figured I'd give one a shot. I plug it into the switch, tried multiple ethernet cords. It shows up on my camera lookup but no matter what I can not get a signal from it. I can't login to its IP via web browser either, it just times out. I can see the IP and in BI it shows it as a dahua, but when I try to add it it just says "Timeout, RTSP port open?" Any advice for me before I return it?

Sounds like an IP address conflict and/or browser issue.

Have you tried a factory reset?

What browser are you using?

What is the IP address of your BI computer?

What are the IP addresses of your other cameras?

Is your POE switch up to the task from a power stand point? Just because it may be a 4 port switch and you have 4 cameras doesn't mean it can actually power all 4.

Amcrest uses DHCP for the default IP address. Dahua uses a static IP at 192.168.1.108. I'd guess that's the root of your trouble. I'm not sure how you're set up there beyond that as far as addressing and how you're seeing it in BI.

Switch is NETGEAR GS108LP, I also tried powering it solo on the switch and still, no luck. It is factory reset.

Browser is microsoft edge, and trying my phones browser as well with no luck (both login to amcrest cameras fine)

Amcrest cams are 192.168.0.17 and 192.168.0.21 , the dahua is showing up as 192.168.0.108

This is correct, thats what my Dahua is showing up as.

Did you change the IP address of the Dahua - the default is 192.168.1.108 not 192.168.0.108 and that would be your problem. You need to make the 1 a 0

Should be 192.168.1.108.

Change your IP on the device that you're using to access it to 192.168.1.10 (or whatever as a 192.168.1.x address), then try to access the camera at 192.168.1.108. Change the cam's IP to be an address at 192.168.0.x or to to use DHCP. Change your IP back.

Sorry that was a typo on my part it is 192.168.1, not 0

Did you run the "General_ConfigTool" from EmpireTech, if so what IP does it show for the Dahua camera? The Config tool MUST be run to configure the camera or the camera will not be accessible!

I just downloaded it and showed both my amcrest cameras and those worked, but dahua still wont load. Still says 192.168.1.108 in ConfigTool

As we said, your network is on the 0 and the camera is on the 1. Your camera needs to be on the 0 subnet.

Your network on the 192.168.0.xxx will not see the camera at 192.168.1.108

Oh!! alright.. how do I go about changing it to a zero? :wow:

Unhook a computer or laptop from the internet and go into ethernet settings and using the IPv4 settings manually change the IP address to 192.168.1.100

Then power up your camera and wait a few minutes.

Then go to INTERNET EXPLORER (needs to be Explorer and not Edge or Chrome with IE tab) and type in 192.168.1.108 (default IP address of Dahua cameras) and you will then access the camera.

Tell it your country and give it a user and password.

Then go to the camera Network settings and change the camera IP address to the range of your system and hit save.

You will then lose the camera connection.

Then reverse the process to put your computer back on your network IP address range.

Next open up INTERNET EXPLORER and type in the new IP address that you just gave the camera to access it.

OR use the IPconfig Tool, but most of us prefer the above as it is one less program needed and one less chance for the cameras to phone home or for something to get screwed up.

Thank you for the detailed info kind sir. I'll try this in a bit. It wont mess with my amcrest cameras using the .0 IP?

You won't see anything on the .0. IP while the computer is on the .1. subnet, but as soon as you switch back to .0. you will see them again.

I am pretty sure that Zipsort should be able to change the camera IP using the config tool with out changing the IP of his computer!

Thats what I'm looking at right now, not quite sure how. I do see the camera on the IP config

You should be able to just select "Edit" and set a new fixed IP address

Yeah thats what I tried, tried setting it to 192.168.0.108 and it says "IP address, gateway or subnet mask is invalid"

Then if I double click, and change it, it says IP modification failed. I tried changing the gateway and the IP to 168.0

So what is the IP and subnet etc for your current network, you can get the info by running IPCONFIG in a terminal window(command Prompt), and what are you putting into the edit screen!
