    Hi people,

I'm running and alarm system using an Adruino UNO. Works great.

I take DI from the doors do all the entry exit buzzing. Sound the alarm and have a keyswitch to arm it.

I also send 3 signals back to BI4. Doo Open, Alarm set, Alarm Triggered. I use BI4 to log events and to switch profiles (Profile 1 for normal, Profile 2 for Armed) to allow different messaging.

My only problem now is that BI4 stops receiving the RS232 messages after a while, about a day or so. I can restart BI4 and it works again.
I can see the Uno sending the messsages.

I borrowed heavily from Kerven. Thanks for the good work.

    I am running Windows 10 x64.
    DIO and IOT/
    Serial Port/ Com3, GCE Electronics
    SeaLevel/ Open , SeaDac Lite 0

i have not been successful in just having the serial part enabled.

In the Sketch I tried sending '0' every second to keep the port alive but that did not stop it stopping.

In windows the device looks normal and active.
Looks like BI4 just stops listening.

If anyone is interested I can add my sketch here.

Is there a power saving mode for the COM port? Some USB ports go into a sleep mode (configurable setting) to conserve power.
Do you have another device that can confirm receipt of the zeroes fine from the RS232 port over extended periods?

There is a 'USB selective suspend setting' under power management that was enabled. I've disabled that and see how it goes.
