Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

It is working, but it is running really slow. I'm running the CPU version of deepstacks and it seems to be missing a lot of plates.

And here's the actual BlueIris logfile from today
From what I can tell it looks like the API is not communicating back to Blue Iris.
Try manual running the API in a Command Prompt using the below steps. Post a screenshot of the Command Prompt so I can see if there are any errors. Below is a normal Command Prompt

First stop DeepStackALPR Service using Task Manager

Next Open up Command Prompt and execute the below commands
  • cd C:\Program Files (x86)\DeepStackALPR
  • deepstackalpr.exe

Great, is all parts working, see below. Does your camera have more zoom, if so zoom in it will help with the character reading. For the OCR to work you need about 100 pixels across the plate.
Yep, everything seems to be working but I need to zoom in a little bit more. To do this I'll have to adjust the mounting a bit so it will have to wait for a dryer warmer day, :)

Hey Mike

It appears to be working now. Now I just have an issue with Deepstack recognizing plates and then reading characters when it does. I think I just need to adjust my settings a bit on the LPR camera. I'm taking a break from this for a bit. Thanks for all of your help!

OK - I lied (about it working and about me taking a break. I just hate to lose to a computer LOL). I don't know why it worked "some" last night. I glanced and saw a few jpgs in the Alerts\ALPR folder when nothing had been there before. But then I realized last night was work night at the club so there was 20-30 cars/truck pulling in and out between 4:00pm and 9:00pm and there were only 3 jpgs in the folder. And now this morning there's been a few cars in and out an nothing. Running the deepstackalpr.exe manually I see there is a permissions error.

Attached is the log file from the Alerts/ALPR/20220216/ folder. It appeared to write a couple of files to that folder today instead of creating a new 20220217 folder.

Last question - Any reason you can think of that Deepstack would pick up the first 2 licenses plates and not the 3rd?

The error I am see has to do with rights to the car.jpg file, try deleting the file. DeepStackALPR will recreate the file when there is a new plate identified.
The program I use to create the install package is adding read only rights to the folder where the files are, I might need to do away with the install package and just have a zip file

I deleted and rebooted the machine. Thursday is usually a little slow down there during the day so it may take a while for a car to drive thru. After one does, I'll check for the file. If it's there, I'll stop the service and start the API manually again and wait for another car

Once you get some plates would you be willing to share the below files so I can retrain the model.
So I was able to dial this in a little tighter and it seems to be working well in the daylight. I’ll let you know later how it goes at night.
