Blue Iris + Dahua(EmpireTech) IVS Setup Questions

I have been searching but have found several different suggestions on setting this up but none seem to be working for me.
Here is my setup:
On the EmpireTech cameras I have only IVS enabled with 4 tripwires. I know these are working as I see boxes around the person once triggered. They are labeled IVS-1, IVS-2, IVS-3, IVS-4.

On the camera settings in Blue Iris, I have "Get ONVIF trigger events" enabled under Video and ONVIF/camera events enabled under Trigger

Here are my questions:
  1. On the camera itself, do I need Event>Video Detection>Motion Detection enabled?
  2. What settings do I need under the camera Trigger>ONVIF events? I have seen some people say certain prebuilt ones and some people say I need IVS-1, IVS-2, etc. What exactly do I need enabled or added here?
  3. Under the camera settings Alert section, do I need Motion Zones enabled?
  4. What else is required for push notifications to work for triggers?

1. No you do not want Motion Detection or Smart Motion Detection on in the camera GUI. Just IVS rules.

2. You only need to do that if you are doing different things with different IVS rules like you want to be alerted for a person but not a car or you have a different set of routines you want ran for different IVS rules. If you leave as is, it will trigger for those IVS rules.

3. No you do not since you are not using BI motion.

4. You need to select the On alert in the last screenshot and then set up what you want it to do for the alert - push, email, text, etc.

I'm still learning about the finer points of these IVS things.
And so I'm sure I'm doing something irrational with my settings.
But for now IVS is working on the cameras I really need it on.
I had to find out the hard way about having motion detection enabled as well.
and using the default string of GobbleDeeGook " Matrix Code" in some strange box. that Wittaj said to just use the defaults.

I like the concept of using the IVS of the camera to detect and trigger via onvif and Blueiris for recording.

The downside I have discovered is a time delay between event and trigger. For just recording you can increase the pre-trigger recording time. But if you want to use AI in Blueiris to do object detection prior alarm, you might miss some alarm

What do you mean?

My ONVIF trigger and alert is always faster than using BI AI to do object detection first.

OK. My wording could lead to misunderstanding.
  • Fast I would consider to trigger by motion detection with Blueiris, do AI object detection in Blueiris and cancel or alert depending on the result of the object detection. Trigger and event are close together and influenced by moten detection in Blueiris only.
  • In comparison to this the onvif trigger from the cam is send after IVR AI detection in the camera is completed. I have not found data how fast Dahua is. But sometimes the trigger comes when a fast moving object already is gone.

I guess every situation is different.

But if I add the same camera twice in BI and have one trigger by IVS only and the other trigger by BI motion and then AI confirmation, the IVS trigger beats it every time.
