It would be far more useful on recording to have the time stamp. Any way to fix this? I've gone thru the settings till I'm blue in the face. I can create the time stamp but there seems to be no setting telling it to record.

This is because you are using direct to disk....to insert the time stamp the video would have to be encoded. Simply use the cameras time stamp instead. Sync it with a web based time server or run your own using timesynctool.com..this is how every NVR and vms software work.
Also remember, that since blue iris store time information in the database, when you export video you have the option to add the time stamp back into the video.
