oh ok.. so far with the current DS I've been using...it detects cars and people great...even when they far way...but, so far it has never been able to detect my dog...not even once.

Also.. so after adding the dark model.. I don't need to add another profile or anything.. I thought I read that you need to create a profile and set a time for when to use the night model.

Setting up profiles is easy, look in the BI documentation. After that ask for help if you have any problems. I use a day and a night profile, "active" for night and "work hours" for day. That lets me use slightly different detection schemes at night to avoid headlight shadows and which models to use.

Oh ok.. so adding another profile is necessary.. I thought that this dark model would create rules to make it more sensitive for night time.

Or run it now and see what you think.

I have found it to give a higher percentage in the daytime than the default, so for some of my cams I do not even use the default object detection and just use the dark model 24/7.

right.. Im gonna try it out without making another profile and see how it goes... I should be able to see if it worked by the morning when my son waits for his bus.
Thanks so much!

This is how it looks like..

I just noticed the "Custom models" section... is this not the place to add People,Car...etc for the custom dark model?

The custom models section is if you want to exclude any. By default it should be both if you want both.

Or you could simply put dark in there as well and it will run the dark and default

I put in dark;objects:0 which means it won't run the default object detection.

If I add dark;objects:0 to Custom models. it won't detect anything at all.. tried it several times... when deleting it, then motion detection works.

Yeah, we have seen differences depending on which BI version you are on as well.

Is it detecting and showing uppercase or People? If so and the ms timing isn't high, then go with it.

Ok using dark makes cpu spike to high 90s constantly …and makes motion alerts take very long…maybe my i7-6700 can’t handle it?
As soon as I disable it and only use the normal DS, cpu calms down and hovers in high teens low 20s with 6 cams.

That is probably because it is running both models. Try running just one and it should come down.

I am on a 4th gen and not having those issues, even before I added a GPU.

dark,objects:0

and it that doesn't do it, then in the confirm take out anything that is from the default detection.
