Hi All,

I have been having issues with the DVR retaining settings after reboot (I had to set it back up again each time) and thought the issue was with the onboard battery, so I replaced it but it was still have the same issue.

So in my infinite wisdom I thought.... I know, lets update the firmware.... Well that went well, not!!! It has now bricked the DVR.

It begins to boot, I know it is booting as I can see that it is pingable on 192.0.0.64 for about 5 secs before it goes unreachable (I have my laptop plugged in the DVR and set to ip 192.0.0.128 via a standard network cable). Then on the screen attached to the DVR, I see the Activation screen is then displayed, then after a few seconds the mouse freezes and that is that! I cant use it or do anything.

I have tried the Hikvision TFTP Server tool and it fails saying "Connect client failure,0"

I have tried repeated reboots to see if it works eventually and nope! :-(

The DVR was running V3.4.80 (from memory).

Does anyone have any tips that can help me get this back up and running?

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

Do I have no hope then?

Any tips on the cable I need to try from the main board? I see a 4 pin socket on there and I must be able to try something from there?

Cheers,

O

To connect to the serial console.
If it's the same as the common approach by Hikvision, you will need :

4-pin 1.5mm JST ZH wired connector - usually sold in 10-packs
Serial TTL to USB convertor - PL2303HX (usually sold 'for Arduino) work OK.
