Budget Dahua Cams or china alternatives under $100?

@guykuo, You're welcome. Hopefully the custom bracket works out for you.

@All, it seems that Dahua has removed the DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_PN_V2.800.0000000.15.R.200313.bin file used to upgrade the Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW camera. That is to say, the IPC-HDW2531T-AS-S2 firmware download area is now empty.

The Dahua wiki firmware area (Index of /images/Files/Firmware) offers a similar file name: DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.19.R.200628.bin file. Probably a newer release with NTSC settings, but that's just my best-guess spectulation.

I'm looking for confirmation that this alternate bin is OK to use on a IP5M-T1179EW camera. Or a trusted link to a safe bin I can use.

Hey guys. I just got one IP5M-T1179EW and flashed it with the dahua FW, however, I'm not sure what to use in BI for video config. I used GENERIC/ONVIF, but I can't figure out what the sub stream address would be. Any ideas? Mine just says Default / for main but nothing for sub.

EDIT: Figured it out after playing a bit with it and trying different things.

Yup, that's what I'm using on mine that I just got from Amazon. Flashed without issues. Just make sure you disable the watermark before you flash it as stated on previous posts.

Even if you forget to remove the watermark prior to flashing you can just do a factory default and it will clear it up.

@astroshare, thanks for confirming the bin file is OK to use.

I've flashed DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.19.R.200628.bin onto one of my Amcrest cameras. I now have IVS Intrusion Events running on it. Works great, same as my Dahua cameras. FWIW, all cameras are connected to a Dahua NVR.

It's nice that my existing config settings were retained after the upgrade. On first boot it begins with what looks like Dahua's camera setup wizard. But after the first click (P2P setting selection) the camera setup is done and it's online with the prior settings.

Lastly, to ensure that the Day/Night Profile works correctly I'm using the workaround that has been shared elsewhere on this forum. On both Dahua and Amcrest cameras, I send this URI command (via a web browser) to a camera after any changes to it's configuration:
http://<IPADDRESS>/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoInOptions[0].NightOptions.SwitchMode=1&VideoInOptions[0].NightOptions.Profile=3
This ensures that the Day/Night profiles follow the state of the IR's light sensor. Before learning about this trick I had problems with retaining reliable Day/Night switching.

I just got a few of these IP5M-T1179EW and flashed to Dahua firmware.
Is there a way to adjust the Day/Night delay?
I see the option for it in the settings, and it's set at 6s, but grayed out, unable to change it.
This camera seems to switch day/night modes rather slow compared to most, and I guess that 6s setting is the reason why....

Go to Camera > Conditions and select the "Profile Management" tab and change temporarily to "General" . Hit Save and then go back and you should be able to edit the Day and Night profiles under Conditions. Once done go back to "Profile Management" and change it back to Day/Night.

Perfect, thank you!

Custom cgi API Command Tip:

In case it helps someone, there is a URI command that disables the Amcrest logo overlay (branding watermark). So there's no need to perform a factory reset when the logo is present after you've flashed the Dahua firmware onto the Amcrest camera.

Using an up-to-date browser (FF, Chrome, Edge) submit the following URI command (substitute the Camera's IP at <IPADDRESS>):
Code:
http://<IPADDRESS>/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoWidget[0].PictureTitle.EncodeBlend=false

Enter your login credentials if/when prompted. The logo will go away after a couple seconds. No need to perform a "Save" since this command writes directly to a camera register address.

If for some strange reason you want to restore the logo then you can change the command's flag to true (.EncodeBlend=true).

All, I've read this entire thread. I picked up one of these (IP5M-T1179EW-28MM) and just got it working today.

I'm still a bit confuses as to why people are flashing to Dahua firmware.

I see that people have said there may be more options available, but what additional benefits does that provide?

Does the new firmware control the hardware better and thus you get better quality video?

To answer your question, I can tell you that the Dahua firmware has IVS such as tripwire and intrusion as well as SmartIR where as the amcrest firmware does not. I’m sure there are probably a few more features but those are the main ones I am concerned with.

Thanks for that info. That's helpful.

I am curious what version of dahua firmware everyone is using currently. I tried DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.24.R.201014, but the cameras were constantly trying to call out to the web generating alot of traffic. I do not allow my cameras out to the web, but I did notice the traffic that was being generated. I flashed back to DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.15.R.200313, and I am no longer seeing this traffic being generated.

So I am curious if anyone else has seen this or not. I attached an image to show an example of what I was seeing.

Hey what are the common recommended cameras recommended under $100.
For all MM sizes.

I often see the 5442 and 2231 which are both over 100.

Edit : just read this whole thread, not sure why it is recommended. The first page is related to the topic and then after that were all over the place (china, foxxcom, firmware flashing)

To save someone else some time the only cameras that were recommended were the ,

IP5M-T1179EW-28MM - (cheapest price was $45 with amazon discount code)

And the

IP8M-T2499EW-28MM ( currently $95 on amazon )

Hello ,

I tried flashing this camera with firmware mentioned before but it gives me an error and tells me the camera will reboot. What am I missing here? Thank you.

Send the model No. here, reboot means you download a wrong fw. Ask your vendor to send you the right fw.

I got my for under $65. Is the Dahua Imou 2MP Turret. You get Onvif compliant, adding to your NVR no need to register into the Cloud if not want to, access to the local web settings (Dahua Login alike) and the quality is acceptable (expected for that price)
