Hi Guys,

i am new here. Sorry if my questions been asked but i been browsing the first 6 pages of this forum and i cannot find my answer.

i like to know what kind of camera i need to be able to capture a user workstation screen and also what is being done on it through cctv?

I have those 1.3mp camera and they cant do the job. What is the required resolution to capture this?

A cheaper solution might be to limit access (sites and such) on the computer. Not to mention,.... cheaper than any possible legal issues you may encounter.

Higher MP camera will not help you too much..you need a different lens that will be zoomed in closer to the screen...even then the person viewing the screen will most likely be blocking the view...you should be looking at screen capture software like this http://www.spectorsoft.com/

You would probably have little choice but to dedicate a $1000 PTZ camera for each monitor, since they have great zoom lenses and are easily adjusted after installation. But even if the view was unobstructed it might be hard to read things on the screen because most monitors these days are 1 to 2 megapixels and your camera will only be about 2 megapixels itself.

A much more effective option, as fenderman said, is screen capture / snooping software.

I won't even touch the legality and morality issues surrounding this type of monitoring. Surely you are able to make your own decisions about that LOL.
