Camera and Placement Questions

Hello all, I am currently in the planning stage of my setup. Right now I'm running Eufy Security wifi cameras tied to their homebase. They work ok for general observation out to about 30' and identification out to about 15' but they do miss many detections and therefore clips dont get recorded to the homebase. This brings me to wanting to install a POE wired system running off a BI box that I will build which will have 24/7 recording with better detections hopefully.

Attached is what I am looking at currently and am open to suggestions as to any changes that should be made before I start pulling cables. The garage does not have an easy pathway for wiring to my server rack so I will most likely do a WiFi uplink to a POE switch in the garage for those 3 cameras on the south of the attached image.
The majority of traffic comes up from the south which the LPR will hopefully catch, and the PTZ will hopefully catch some/most of the traffic coming from the north. Cameras 2 and 4 will also act as spotter cameras for the PTZ. I also plan on pulling some ethernet out to the shed (indicated as the grey box in the bottom right of my yard) and will probably put a camera in the future facing to the north/east to monitor the garage door on that side of the shed with only camera 6 monitoring the double doors on the west side of the shed. I do not plan on adding any security lighting in the back yard or on the shed as I do astrophotography from the back yard and cant have the lights.

Looks like you are getting some traction!

The veterans around will no doubt respond with valuable links and advice, so hang on for their responses! :D

My two cents:
There is a variety of popular, humorous, and absolutely correct advice on this forum about how quickly additional cameras are added.
I had my own "AHA!" moment about overlapping camera views and camera location and placement, and the single best practice I have
adopted is that if I'm gonna go to the trouble of pulling cable, especially to a tricky location, I pull more than one cable.
I have, for example, a challenging location on the corner of my garage. Initially I pulled a single cable for a single camera - DUMB - there
are now three cameras in or near that location, AND I have a spare cable because I'm thinking about more...

definitely run N+1+ cat5e/6 runs ..

Plan to want to add a couple more cameras .. I personally want anyone going to my garage / driveway and front door to pass through at least 2 camera zones within the ID range .. as such I would add another camera covering the driveway and another the walkway to the front door ..

I will definitely double the amount of runs of cabling to each location. For the entry ways I do currently have the Eufy doorbell cameras which are not the best but do capture most events as long as the sun isn't facing the camera. I will look into adding another camera by each entryway.

What utility did you use to create your map? I am wanting to put together something like that as well.

It's not free though, you can try it for a limited amount of time (like 90 seconds) with up to 2 cams before a banner will pop up saying you need to log in. Subscription starts at $199,- a year.
