I would like to add 4-6 cameras to cover front yard/driveway (top), side yard/gate (right), and backyard (bottom). Neighbor to the left has 2 cameras monitoring that narrow alley between our houses (left). My home is about 55' x 55' square and two stories.

Is there a front/rear door solution that is discreet?

Any ideas? Anything I can add to this thread to make assistance easier?

So far I have ordered a Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P. I am waiting to purchase HDD & cameras based on advice received.

You made a great choice on this NVR I have the same one, as far as which cam for front door/porch then I am making two recommendations:

1. If you require warranty/support go with everything Hikvision/LTS English versions, but there are compromises with night image, here are few ideas:
Front door - http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/Products_accessries_209_i5601.html w/ 2.8mm lens (~$170)
Driveway/Backyard - http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/Products_accessries_159_i5636.html (~$150)

2. If you don't care about warranty/support (and looking for more bang and night image quality for the price)
Front door - http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/MINI-IP-Dome-Camera-WDR-dome-CCTV-camera-4MP-20m-IR-network-POE-IP-security-camera/612513_32611006828.html (I haven't tried this particular one, but I have one from the same company, it appears compact and good price)

Driveway - Longse S500 w/3.6mm lens http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Vandalproof-POE-IP-camera-IR-dome-5MP-HD-lens-IMX178-Hi3516A-solution-ONVIF-2-0-CCTV/612513_32579092480.html (~$140 This is currently as good as it gets for night time vision for the price)

Other Top Choice that will work mostly anywhere outdoors due to flexible PTZ functions: Huisun PTZ v2 either 4x (2.8-12mm wide angle) or 10x (5mm-55mm) ~$150)
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/HUISUN-Manufacture-2016-New-Model-2nd-generation-2MP-4X-with-POE-IP-Bullet-PTZ-Camera-CCTV/32612428681.html (wide angle 4x zoom)

http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bIiHN1Ji (10x zoom)

I have had all these cams for a while now running against Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P using ONVIF profile.

It's difficult to recommend based on this picture and really depends on the camera choice, but generally 7-8 feet is good height for Identification.

While looking at all the recommended cameras, I see that the first door camera you mentioned is wireless. How could/would I interface that with the NVR? Through my wireless router?

It's both, you could run it wireless or poe only, there b is POE only version too. As far as configuring in nvr i simply put ip address of the wireless cam.

Go grab your cell phone and a ladder, go around your house taking images from various locations.. should give you a pretty good idea what the wide angle perspectives are and if you need to move to get objects from blocking other things (tree trunks)..

it'll also let you know when a wide angle lens wont very useful and you can try to crop the resulting image, measure the FOV manually and then try to match the lens... I use an 8ft 2x4 placed a known distance on the ground parallel with the top and bottom of the frame.. if you know its width and distance its pretty easy to calculate how wide FOV you are looking for with some online lens calculators.

OK, ordered the Longse S500 and the Longse A400 minidome to start.

Now to get the cat6 drops installed... Craigslist folks are sooooo very flaky...
