If I'm using both IVS and Smart Motion Detection to trigger ONVIF for Vehicles, does the first trigger win, or could using both of these at the same time cause two triggers in BI? Thanks

Depending on your setup (and version of BI) it could be first trigger wins or both trigger.

Use the "New zones/sources only (additive)" option if you are going to have several rules being used in one camera and want to be able to do something with each rule separately. This will generate multiple triggers.

Use the "New zones/sources only (exclusive)" option if you want the first trigger to be the only trigger. Just keep in mind there could be instances that the motion re-trips it if the object lingers around the field of view.

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Just be aware that using those newer "additive/exclusive" options turn what would traditionally be one (real-world, physical) event into many tiny (on the order of one second) events/alerts on the BI timeline. Bit of a bummer that it has no way to distinguish and combine them into one alert.

@wittaj I asked this question originally because one of my cameras has quit triggering using AI IVS rules that used to trigger vehicles, human and animals. I restarted the camera and that didn't correct it. I watched the live view and saw several vehicles appear or cross and the IVS box or tripwires never turned red. I turned AI IVS off and tried SMD alerts via ONVIF, which worked as expected.

Any thoughts on why my AI IVS triggers aren't working? Thanks!

Oh wow normally a restart gets it going.

Try powering it down for 1 minute and then power up and see if it starts working.

If not, it sounds like the firmware corrupted.

First thing would be try toggling IVS off and on and see if that gets it going.

If not, then do a factory reset and start over.

Since the FOV has a tight window, I'm trying "Fast Moving" rules to see if it catches vehicles.

The Fast Moving rule is showing some promise so far. Curious how it's different from a regular Intrusion rule, other than no setting for direction or Appear/Cross.
