Ack, that looks bad. Notice how the on-screen text briefly vanishes too. I would be suspicious of a hardware defect causing some part of the camera to crash and get restarted. Though it restarts very fast which I find odd. How are you powering this camera?

Looks like a PoE problem by not getting enough power for the camera with IRs on. Could be due to a bad crimp cable or length, and/or POE port not providing enough power.

I would try hooking it up to a different port with a short cable and see if it still has the problem. If so, I would see about updating the firmware since there was a similar bug with this camera generation that I believe was fixed with a firmware update... (I don't have any of this generation of Hik cam, so I haven't followed it too closely).

Last resort, try to get the seller to replace or refund the camera.

I'll try another port and/or re-crimp the indoor side of the cable to test.

Update: That didn't work.

Tomale...assuming you have a "Western Region" 2CD2342WD-I (look for "WR" in your camera's serial number)...

(Cross-posted from this IpCamTalk.com topic)

OK. I just received this Western Region camera from AliExpess...

Model DS-2CD2342WD-I
Serial No. DS-2CD2342WD-I20150906BBWRQQQQQ465
Firmware Version V5.3.3 build 150630
Encoding Version V7.0 build 150609

The camera was running POORLY: Sluggish...then responsive...then un-responsive...then non-responsive! Yikes...this suQs thought I.

So I downloaded the firmware for the model CMIP3142W-28S (file name: IPC4_V5.3.2_150915v2.zip), firmware version: "IPC4_V5.3.2_150915v2" from the LTS website. I crossed my fingers and uploaded to the camera (System > Maintenance > Remote Upgrade).

And all fixed. The camera now responds SMOKING FAST and the problems previously experienced are no more.

Thank you very much Mr. FastCamMan.

I'll tell you though...pushing that "Upgrade" button was a leap of faith!

But PLEASE think this through before you try this and NO COMPLAINTS if YOU brick your camera as result.

I faced same problems with my 2142fwd cam , I made a lot of modifications on image settings and video went dark each minute.

Factory reset of the cam and all is OK . I suspect wdr setting problem

I was expecting a little better night vision from the 2342 based on the specs.

IMO this is the "blink" issue which appears at night. On given time base the NVR tries to set its settings to the cameras which results in full iris initialization of the camera. You can try this firmware which comes from Hikvision, and solves that issue (still wonder why Hikvision does not releasing it officially).

Do you have some more info on that firmware? (changelog, version nr., etc.)

They are a little better then 2332 though, but only a little. Although, I find new turret/dome not enough for large driveway coverage without some external light source, but if you have small space they look decent:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I contacted Ryan from Nelly's Security and he provided me with firmware version V5.3.3 build 150826 and the issue appears to be fixed! :)

I'm going to replace one of my 2032's with a 2342 once Nelly's gets some 4mm's in stock. The 2032's have too much noise at night. So far I'm very happy with night image of my 2332 and 2335 (Chinese model).
