Cameras direct to nvr or through switch?

Assuming no cabling obstacles, Are there any reasons one would connect cameras through a managed Poe switch verses directly to the Nvr's Poe ports with the nvr itself on its own Vlan?

No brainer. Through a switch. Connection to an NVR directly severely limits access to the cameras.
