Can Dahua NVR "see" a camera PIR?

Hi. I have a Dahua 5216 NVR - can it be configured to "see" and therefore act on a camera's PIR event?

My current setup is a Hikvision 3MP doorbell (the Nelly's version) that does Push notifications on PIR events. It also provides an RTSP stream that I have the NVR configured to record.

But I can't seem to get the NVR to "see" that a PIR event has occurred.

I'd also like to know about this in the broader context of other cameras - not just this doorbell. Is this some or all of:

  • a limitation of this camera that it's not providing an event/alarm so there's nothing to see?
  • an inter-vendor limitation?
  • that even the ONVIF standard doesn't solve?
  • or have I missed a setup somewhere on either the camera or the NVR?

Thanks.

an inter-vendor limitation?
Very likely. The NVR would have to support that specific ONVIF notification type.
That's assuming the camera generates that type of ONVIF notification.
You can test that if you query the camera with ONVIF Device Manager from sourceforge.net
Give ODM some valid logon credentials and it will find ONVIF devices on the same LAN as the PC automatically.

To see what type of ONVIF event notificationss the camera can generate -
Check the Analytics and Rules pages, and see the events themselves in the Events page.
Look carefully to see if there are any associated with PIR events.
