Can I change the Native Home position on a cheap Chinese camera?

Hi fellow camera users,

I have a new SV3C WiFi PTZ camera in the HX series. I was forced to mount it about 90 degrees left (north) of where I want my primary viewing area (east). So it mostly looks at an area I don't care about.
Is there any way I change the primary view area to east instead of north.
To remount the camera facing east has other issues and is not really worth the effort.

I have tried many (apparently applicable) settings in BI and also in the camera's online application with limited success.
I can cause the camera to temporarily move to the east view by setting a PTZ position and using it in a cycle, but it always returns to the north view after a minute or so.

I am using version 5.9.9.59 BI.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This would likely be set in the camera's settings and not BI. I had a Foscam PTZ I used as a baby monitor and was able to set presets in the UI, and then call out which one it would go to on start up. Can you post some screenshots of the camera's UI?

My first thought is to move it where you want it via the Monitor screen, and then click Submit to save it as a preset.

The question is then how to get it to return to that position by default on start up. Maybe look through the System options?

Thank you again.
I will give that a try when I have the chance.
I have a few other things taking my time right now but I'll report back after I try that. :thumb:

On dahua or hikvision cameras, they call it something like "park action" or "idle motion" or something like that, and allow you to choose a preset # to go to after X minutes.

Hi Ri22o and bp2008,

In the camera's UI, I was able to set the view I want and save it as a preset.
After scouring the menus the closest thing I could find was " Linkage preset " under the Alarm menu.
I've set that to the preset number I want, but I've yet to see the camera point to that area.

I'm going to try restarting the camera in BI to see if that helps.
Restarting the camera did nothing.

The camera still primarily looks at the original native view.
It will move to the desired preset when manually commanded to do so.
Other than setting a preset view, the changes made in the camera's UI did nothing else that I've seen so far.

It actually has a schedule set up to go to that preset every hour, 24 hours a day.
It goes to the preset, waits for maybe a minute then returns to the native view.

I'm not a long time camera user. Will this constant movement wear out the camera sooner than normal?

Unless it is a really poorly made camera, moving twice an hour is not going to be a big problem. Lots of PTZs are configured to move dozens of times per hour on a continuous "tour" and they can last for many years. Although it certainly does wear them out faster than not moving it.
