I learnt the hard way just how rubbish lorex software is.

The cameras however are decent, just massively let down by the lazyness of the developers.

Can these lorex cams.be used with any other systems?

Are their any good open source alternatives out there?

More than likely the cameras are not on ideal MP/sensor ratios so you think they are decent, but they really aren't because they are cheaper consumer cameras.

Many that migrate from Lorex move to a PC/Blue Iris as their NVR because Lorex was made by Dahua, so the Dahua app and software is basically the same thing.

Blue Iris has a 14-15 day demo, so load it up on a windows computer and give it a shot.

But if blue iris is made by the same company as lorex, wouldn't the software be just as bad?

I'm looking for a Linux compatible product. Windows is spyware.
Blue Iris is not made by Lorex...

I ran Lorex 2K cameras with BI, and had no issue other than the cameras were not the best.

Where did I say BI is made by Dahua?

You are gonna find there are not a lot of options in this arena.

If you buy a windows computer just for BI and lock it down, the concern is minimal.

Or stay with Lorex lol

Hi lorex

What in particular did you find challenging with the lorex software ?

Which lorex nvr did you get ?
Which lorex cameras ?

If you have lorex branded ip poe dahua oem cameras they should be able to meet onvif specs and provide a good rtsp feed, so they should work with 3rd party nvrs / vms solutions. ( thus why I ask which nvr and cameras you have, note some of lorex branded systems are not dahua oem )
