Can you configure DS-2CD2xx5 to use SC card storage as backup for NVR

I intend to use my Synology Surveillance Station for my array of DS-2CD2385FWD-I cameras. But just in case it's offline, it would be nice if the camera automatically switched to SD card storage.

I just can't figure out if the cameras can be set up as such: essentially to record to SD card if the network connection is down. Has anyone successfully done this?

No, record to SD all the time. There are other things that could go wrong.

I'm confused? Surely an NVR or Synology trumps regular storage on an SD card wrt functionality provided. Does the video gets stored to the SD card regardless of an NVR at any time if present? I guess that would be ok as well.

I'm currently installing my setup and I'm considering if investing in SD cards next to the NVR makes sense. If the SD storage is never going to be used, I don't have to bother with the SD cards.

Yes it will record simultaneously, that is it's purpose.
