hi, I have a Empiretech IPC-T54IR-ZEB-S3, thats also a IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 which means the B is just "black"

I have tried to add this stupid thing to literally every camera software out there. Zoneminder, Shinobi, Agfent-DVR, etc. FAIL EVERY TIME!

What am I doing wrong? I have an ONVIF user set up, but that doesnt matter. I cant use the ONVIF login or my admin login for the cam to get any kind of feed. Does anyone have a goddamn url that will work for VLC with this camera? it can include a login, I dont care.

I need a valid URL for this camera's ONVIF feed, or anything else that will let me add it to NVR software. YES I HAVE ONVIF ENABLEd!

What is the IP address of your system?

You likely are not on the camera IP of 192.168.1.x

The camera default IP is 192.168.1.108

You need to make it the same IP as your system.

At initial power-up, the cam needs to be initialized. This is done using a web browser (with your computer on the correct IP scheme as @wittaj mentioned) to log in to the cam, answer some basic questions and set the password.

Any chance you've performed this step yet?

Yes guys, my camera is on my 10.* network and it's been initialized. I can get alerts through the DMSS app, if that helps.

Good to know.

Perform a full reset of the camera, you can initiate it from the GUI, or use the reset button under the memory card cover. I perform this step religiously two times consecutively wit all my new cams.

I dont want to fully reset the camera. I have it all set up the way I want. I just can't seem to add it to any NVR software. Can anyone who HAS added iut tell me the URL they use to do so? or any settings I may have overlooked? something is missing here.

Run ODM, insert camera's username/password into ODM and allow it to log into the camera IP that you stated is on your 10.* network."
Highlight the camera in left column to make the box black.
In the next column to the right, second box down you should see a live video thumbnail.
Click on "Live video" below that.
The RTSP URL should be found at the bottom, below the large live image at the right.

I tried using ODM before and it just constantly failed with a "Object reference not set to object" error.
I tried downloading it again via your link and it's finally not doing that, however, i cannot figure out what login I am supposed to use!
I have two normal accounts, admin and lesseruser. I also have two ONVIF accounts, admin and lesseruser.

To simply things, I set the admin password for both admin accounts to the same exact password.
When I log in with that in ODM, and I click Live video or Video streaming, it is just a black box with "NO SIGNAL"

mind you, I can log in to the camera via http and see video and change settings just fine.
Any idea why I am getting "NO SIGNAL"?
Thanks for your help.

Maybe use the cam's IP with a port scanner (Fing, Angry IP, et.c) to insure the RTSP port and the ONVIF port are what they should be.
Hard reset the cam again, even if you've already done it before, may be worth another.

FWIW, the NO SIGNAL url in ODM is rtsp:/10.0.0.50:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif&tls=true
When I go to the Live page in the Camera's ui, it is Channel 1, main stream works, but substream 1, 2,3 fail to show anything.

nmap reports that 80,443,554,5000,37777 is open. I'm not sure which port ONVIF is supposed to be on.

I guess I'll have to factory reset, but I'm really not looking forward to it because of all the setup that will require. This really shouldn't be so hard! :/

You could also potentially try a soft default instead of a full default. I have had this clear up ONVIF issues before. You will lose settings, but not IP and others required to log back into the camera.

Seems like @maxrez is most reluctant to reset (understandably) due to loss of cam settings (not loss of IP and users).

IF that is the case, hard reset seems to be the better choice as opposed to learning the soft reset does not fix anything, and then having to hard reset

Rip the bandaid all the way off at once... not halfway now, and halfway later

Whoa that worked! I now get Live video in ODM! My next steps will be
  • maybe try to restore my old settings (i downloaded them before reset) and see if it still works
  • try to add the camera to some various NVR programs like Shinobi, ZoneMinder, etc

Thanks everyone for basically walking me through a "have you tried turning it off and on again?" style solution, lol. We didn't quite figure out the issue, but at least now I can slowly add back in my settings and see what breaks it.
In case anyone else tries this, I'll add that after I did the soft reset, I had no video in the Live view, which was alarming. I had to go into encoding and switch to H.264 instead of 265. I guess firefox doesnt like H.265.

I have done that method for cameras that have already been installed, but end up having some dumb issue down the road. It saves the patch panel dance of getting it on the right network just to change the IP and set up credentials to put it back on the correct network.
