cannot default the DS-2CD2122FWD-i

got this hikvision camera im trying to default and its not defaulting, what am i doing wrong??
i disconnect it, hold the reset button down, power it back up holding the reset button for 15 seconds and it just starts back up again with old IP address and old password which i dont know and what is why im trying to default it to reset the password. tried this 3 times unsuccessfully.
any other ideas??

With it already powered up, hold the button down for a minimum of 30 seconds. Give that a try.

Try password 12345, it looks like it might be old firmware with preactivated default password including DHCP enabled

When I had a 2CD2032 camera, there was a very easy way to reset the passwors via offline IE page,- maybe your camera can reset a password in such way too?

Disconnect from 12v power?
The reset button needs to be held on for at least 30 seconds, maybe a bit longer even.

What's the IP address and is it different from the 'default' IP address? ie either 192.0.0.64 or 192.168.1.64 ?

nope that didnt work. no password i have found online works, it wont default itself, powered down, held reset button and powered on keeping button pressed for just over 30 seconds, nothing, just keeps its same IP.

I'm not sure, but i think, there is the way to reset the password via ssh/telnet if it aviable in ur cam.

Maybe the firmware is old enough that it uses the fixed passwords when reset instead of going inactive.

The old passwords are :
12345
123456789abc
if I remember correctly.

thats just it, i cant even log into the web interface to try it. just page not found.
with hiktools those passwords are rejected

anyone ever tried getting a password reset from hikvision?? what email you supposed to email it to??

They gave me one once and they rejected me once. I was surprised by the former. Got lucky that time I guess.

What's the IP address of the PC that you're trying to log in with?
It needs to be in the range 192.168.1.x to see the camera.
SADP works across the network segments, doesn't need to be in the same range.

same range as PC.

heard back from hikvision support and they sent me a file to reset the password for that camera and now it works ok, even with web interface on pc now.
