Hi all,

Using Tenvis TH671 wireless ip camera.

Downloaded BI yesterday to give it a try, while at home I could connect to my ip camera through my network. At work I can connect to my camera with IE just by inputting my host address and port number no problem, on my phone using the app "ipcam viewer" it also works fine.

But with BI work pc(xp) it will not, even if I pick it from the list.

Has anyone got any ideas for me to try before my trial runs out.

Thanks
Mick

I'm not trying to connect to BI at my home pc, I am just trying to connect to the ip camera.

Without more information (like screenshots of everything) we don't really know what you are doing so all we can do is guess.

So since you did not mention it, I am going to guess that you don't know about port forwarding and public IP addresses. This can all be a bit overwhelming if you are new to computer networking.

Have a look here: http://portforward.com/help/start_here.htm They have a lot of information about port forwarding. Just don't buy anything from them because you can do it all yourself for free, and you'll be better off with the experience.

If you have already done all this, then it is possible your workplace firewall is blocking the traffic.

I have the camera working at work over the internet, port 8081 is to this camera(TH671), and port 8080 is to another camera(Maygion).

The Maygion camera works on BI, but I can not get the TH671 to work on it, but it will work on Andriod ipcam viewer.

My pc at home is not switched on, I just want to add the TH671 to BI like the Maygion camera.

Port 8081 is the external port? What is the internal port?

Maybe you have forwarded to the camera's http server (port 80) when you in fact need to forward to the rtsp server (port 554)?

Good one, never thought of that, just presumed BI used the http port.

Will try that tonight, thanks.

This is what shows when inspecting:

Most cameras using JPEG or MJPEG based video will use the http port. Most doing h.264 will use the rtsp port.

consider setting up a VPN, its not that hard and much better overall for security and access..

Well I forwarded port 554, and with a little help from BI's Ken it is now working, just got to get it to display without missing frames
