can somebody recommend some software for cleaning up some footage? its 1080p mp4

i also would like to be able to zoom in a section of the video, control how much it zooms and just re record that portion of the footage. is that possible?

i tried vlc, but cant find a way to control the zoom level -goes too pixelated..

Any good video editing software should enable you to crop, zoom, and combine clips while retaining the best possible image quality. VLC is not intended to be video editing software. Whatever software you pick, have fun with the learning curve. It is something I've always wanted to learn, but not badly enough to actually spend the time.
