Kathy,

Welcome to the forum!

Can you elaborate on what "does not work at night" means? eg:
- No live view?
- No recorded video?
- No IR illumination? Do they glow red?
- Is there enough other light, so the cam could get an image without relying on IR?
- Is the camera set to automatically switch from color (Day) to b&w (night)

Check the recording schedule. Is the system set up for 24/7 recording?
Workaround: Every night, change the system's clock by 12 hours. The system will think it's daytime! ;)

sounds like its configured to stay in color all the time; you'll want to see if there are settings for color/b&w/auto and pick auto

Kathy,

So it doesn't have built-in IR Illumination.
You have options, however.
Add regular lighting to the scene (floodlight)
Add IR lighting. Lotsa them on amazon. People often use 'em to supplement the built-in IR lighting, or light things up that are normally out of range of the built in IR

This will only work if the camera is equipped with an ir cut filter..

Fenderman has a point. And I had an assumption (that the cam has an IR cut filter). My bad.

Post a model number so we can read the specs. (and eliminate bad assumptions)

Kathy,

Thanks for the NVR model number. You can buy that as an NVR, and pick cameras. Or as a bundle (nvr & cameras). I find several bundles on line. They all have IR illumination for night recording.

Can you provide the model number of the cameras?

My hunch:
based on your comments, the cams should have IR LEDs for seeing at night:
there is no red light that I can see on the cameras
where I got it it says good night vision
I think nayr hit the nail on the head:
sounds like its configured to stay in color all the time
Meaning you have the fiddle with the configuration settings. It might not be set to automatically switch from Day (color) to Night (b&w, with IR LEDs turned on)

Plz give us the cam model #....
