Certificates - HTTPS & Google/Edge

Hi All,

I am currently now just using http to access blueiris however I know that its not secure and so need https but understand there are issues with Google & Edge not supporting self signed certificates. Are there any clear defined instructions for creating your own certificate authority (on windows 10/11) for doing this ?.

I know I can create certs using openssl on windows just not sure how the cert authority bit works.

You want to use a combination of Let's Encrypt and Duck DNS - DuckDNS will give you a FQDN and Lets Encrypt will give you a valid signed SSL cert for free. I've used it for years and it works great.

As you can see, fully signed and trusted within the browser - there are many ways (clients) to use lets encrypt and DuckDNS - I run a home assistant VM for home automation and use the DuckDNS and Nginx Proxy Manager add-ons within home assistant to manage the updates for me - all very easy, very little skill required for the whole setup.
