"channel "x" failed to get configuration?

On my Dahua NVR most of my Dahua cams work fine with motion detection. 2 of my IPC-HDW4231EM-AS will not play nice with my NVR motion detection, i get an error message that says, "channel 4 failed to get configuration" for example. In the NVR settings I have tried labeling the cams as, "private" "custom" and "ONVIF." The Event/Video Detection portion of NVR settings will not accept these cams. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Had these issues with Chinese domestic market cams. The model you mentioned should be a „normal“ one, but maybe you got a Chinese one with cracked firmware. You could try to upgrade to the latest firmware. I have no problem with this with my 4421EM-AS or 4231EM-ASE.

Yes, might be. But would also be possible by firmware. I dunno which NVR you’ve got, but there have been issues with MD/IVS settings from NVR. With a firmware upgrade it was possible to do these settings, but I assume that still not everything is working properly. I do my IVS settings on the cameras GUI, which works fine for me.

can someone please help me with ivs ..ive tried following

1.trough nvr- event,ivs ,tripwire..got pop up message " channel does not support configuration search or modification"
2. trough internet explorer 192.168.1.108-steup ,ivs,tripwire ,and when i press draw rule my camera pic go whine ,blank. and got small pop up on bottom of the page message "error on page "
3. trough smart pss 2.0 install it and keep asking me admin password ive tried admin and 666666 cant log in for the 1 time ...
