I'm looking for a PTZ that's cheap and not complete garbage.
So far, they're all terrible.
This is the list so you don't waste your time with Amazon returns.

Jennov 4K PTZ 20x J800
PROS:
  • responsive support that will send you a second camera = cheap AF when that happens
  • decent 20x zoom optique
  • decent auto tracking
CONS:
  • optique flares easily
  • no update to the firmware
  • web live view mostly doesn't work
  • all functions are done via arcane preset code sequence!
  • AF hunts at night
  • sluggish PTZ response in the web interface (in the rare cases where it works

Anpviz 20x zoom PTZ 4K
PROS:
  • fast web interface with responsive PTZ
  • sensible default settings
  • decent 20x zoom optique
  • has firmware updates
CONS:
  • live view dies off after a few seconds
  • auto tracking doesn't work

Sunba 4K 20x PTZ
PROS:
  • cheap AF
  • can connect via ONVIF (woohoo!)
CONS:
  • web interface doesn't even work
  • zero support

+1 above. Many here have forked over $200-$300 to try to save a $100 and then the camera ends up going in the bin lol.

As someone here said - buy once, cry once. Especially if wanting a tracking PTZ.

Makes sense and seeing the sorry state of their software, I'll gladly spend more on cameras to offload the AI. I'm sure it'll end up cheaper and more reliable than noodling with CodeProject + Coral.
Empiretech is Dahua/Hik? Their 1/1.86" IR-less starlight camera was outstanding.
