Confusion around Day/Night switch utility and newer Dahua cameras

@HHSquared did you make sure you are in the right area of the Schedule? See one of the mistakes people make is they have the camera full time setup most times day mode. So they make changes in the night mode when they really needed to make the change in the mode it is going to be 24hours a day.. If you have a schedule setup and have it setup for day/night with a time for when you want day and night to happen then you would make changes on day for day and night for night.. So I would look if you are setup full time in day make the change in the settings page under day.. Yet if camera of older format has default or general as option and that is also setup for full time then that is where you make the change..

Yes I setup schedule and am adjusting in day mode settings and then again in night mode. Nothing is staying and it keeps reverting back to original settings. Even after I click apply 10 times.

Ok next have to ask do you have your camera connected to a Cloud service? If you do it might be that your Cloud is reverting things back to what is setup in the Cloud settings?

And are you using IE or Edge in IE mode? I've had some issues with my 4K-X using Pale Moon lately.. odd

And have you made any settings and saved them on the NVR vs the camera GUI itself?

I’m on a Mac so using pale moon and Waterfox.

I did make some settings changes in the NVR but the schedule is in the camera itself… I didn’t see the option for schedule in the empire tech NVR

There is a setting in most NVRs and my gues sis Empire Tech NVR as well where you can pick what role you want the camera to run on? Normally I think if you have it setup for switch in the Camera then you would want to choose 1 in the NVR and that would be like Global setting where it takes form the camera? 2 and 3 would be like changing from day to night depending on what one was picked..

I only ask becasue I've seen NVR settings ovrride camera settings when least expected. Thats one of the many reasons I advocate making ALL camera settings on the camera GUI. The NVR GUI is for recording schedule and AI search, thats about it

Go into the NVRs GUI, Look under camera and pick image, then choose the camera you want, what does it have in the day/night/general tab?

Uggghh but dont make camera settings changes on the NVR GUI

I wasn't saying to, I was asking that they look at the GUI of the NVR to see if it is reflecting the settings they are working with? However it could be an issue with the cameras current FW as well. Might need to do a reset of the camera and even might have to reflash the cameras Firmware.. Might want to see if that model camera has some known issue with this? AS i know there has been some of different brand that has had some issues with making changes not being accepted in the camera..

All cameras except for 1 show General. The last one shows “day” and it doesn’t matter how many times I click General and apply, it still doesn’t save.

You will want to go to the Camera WebUI, Go to Setup, then Camera Configuration, then in there you want to pick Profile, in your camera might be different but in same idea.. The area where you setup the schedule, You will want to go there and not only setup the Schedule but you want to then change the profile type to match your needs.. Can be General, day/night day and night but with a schedule normally you would pick the day/night Or Schedule option.. General is like day or night just a way that it has another option for changing that don't reflect the day night options.. So if you want to follow schedule you would want day/night or Schedule if you want to follow a set time because of light conditions option

Sorry wasn't directed at you..Was just warning the poster.
I've had so many problems I've troubleshooted lately where folks are using the DMSS app and NVR GUI to make all of their camera settings and many seem to be unaware of the camera GUI at all

Yup, I tried this. I went into Customized scene (that's where I could add the schedule) and then flipped it to Day/Night but it wouldn't save and kept reverting back to day mode (when it was night). Reading more on here, it looks like it may be a flaw in the Dahua software and not have a solution at the moment...
