Connecting DVR/Cameras to my new pc screen

I'm new to all this and have a query, if anyone can help?
I have a DVR with 7 cameras - hiki vision. I'm trying to connect them to my new pc. Currently i'm struggling and wondered if anyone can help please. I've typed in the IP address of the DVR and it told me to download a xvr program but this isn't working, more than likely me doing something wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please

Provide the model number. Do you mean it asks you to download an ACTIVE x plugin? If you want help, you need to provide info and the EXACT error messages.
