In Michigan a county would sell the property and KEEP all the sales proceeds .. even if it exceeded the amount owed on back taxes .. talk about corruption in the State / County levels ..

On the flip side of that, my dad was finally able to evict a lowlife tenant this past Friday. He tried to evict during Covid-19 but the gubermint decided not to honor property rights and ignored their own laws on the books. That is similar to seizure of property by the gubermint and forcing owners to provide homes to people who weren't paying rent regardless of the fact that homeowner/landlord had to continue to pay the mortgage, property taxes and maintenance. Another example of gubermint out of control.

Mr. Lowlife Tenant got the shock of his life Friday morning. Four deputy sherrifs escorted the lowlife and family out of the house then had movers go in and move their shit to the curb. Mr. Lowlife was finally kicked out 24 days after the judge ordered the tenant out of the house. Mr. Lowlife probably thought that the sherrif's eviction task force was backed up until mid December....which they are...and thought he was safe until then. Thankfully, my dad pleaded based on hardship to him and mom and was able to move up the date. Some counties in Atlanta area are backed up 6 months before sherrif can enforce a judge's eviction order.

The gubermint is simply not following laws on the books. I have no doubt gubermint will confiscate and sieze assets regardless of if it's real estate, 401k or anything of value. Bunch of effing socialists. It's all great until you run out of someone else's money.

Agreed.
And its about to get much worse.

Trying to decide how to keep some of my pile out of their hands. Already taxed honest money. Leaving it in banks doesnt seem too secure to me.

When you figure it out let me know.

Recall the "one time" tax that Hitlery wanted to put on 401K. Slippery slope that would make it an annual tax by the libtards. Trust me... It's not the last we've heard of it.
