I would say the coyote has a lead deficiency.
He's getting too brave around people and looking towards them for food.
Once they have learned this, there is no going back.

The wildlife is revolting! But think the Dad shouldn't have returned to usher the coyote away with the child stuck to his chest! Maybe if it felt threatened or lunged the kid would have got it first. Secure the envoriment then attack after!

Heck, if it were me, my 9mm would have been off my hip as I was picking up my little girl. That coyote hesitated long enough to be taking a dirt nap for sure...
