Dahua 4MP Starlight Lineup

...and that’s at F1.5 vs
0.006Lux/F1.6 For the 5231

Anyone have any suggestions for new models to add in the OP?

Thanks! Recently Updated: 10/20/2019
What really differentiates Pro and Lite-Series? All looks like it boils down to firmware :idk:

@EMPIRETECANDY Andy, any update on the following 4MP Starlight Cameras?

These seem the most interesting of the models not tested yet. Both are new Lite AI series eyeballs.

IPC-HDW3441TM-AS (1/2.7" 4MP Starlight, fixed 2.8/3.6/6mm, 0.005 Lux@F1.6, 50m IR, Audio, SD Card)

IPC-HDW3441T-ZAS (1/3" 4MP Starlight, varifocal 2.7-13.5mm, 0.005 Lux@F1.5, 40m IR, Audio, SD Card)

Sensor too! The 4MP Lite series look like they have a smaller 1/3” sensor. The min illumination specs look to be closer to the 2MP Starlights (not bad) but not as good as the 4MP 1/1.8” sensors in the Pro series.

Ha, I'm jumping ahead of myself here, thanks for stressing on that, lol. Sensor Size is obviously a bigger deciding factor when it comes to choosing between the Lite and Pro series; obviously the 1/1.8" sensor is a win in my books :D

Now we wait for a 4mp 1/1.8" Starlight Turret ;)

I think you have something mixed up. Please, find my comments in blue in the quote.
I was thinking it would be a good idea to sticky this thread to consolidate and discuss (briefly) the newly released Dahua 4MP Starlight cameras; that way it would be easier for everyone to navigate to the desired thread (model topic) of the camera(s) they're interested in.

HDW is a turret, not a bullet camera. Also, the link is for a turret.

Varifocal Lens Bullet

Again, this is a Varifocal Lens Turret.

Must be for expediency as the BW IR mode is always 0 Lux whats the point of listing that detail.
therefore
PC-HDW2231T-ZS-S2
0.002 Lux@F1.5 can only refer to lux color

There are new wedge cameras out there? 4MP and 5MP versions?
They both look like they're using a 1/2.7" sensor that give them minimum lux ratings similar to the 2MP Starlights.

So they seems like good cameras, right?
What is interesting, is that I have got a quote from Alibaba, shipped EMS $96. That seems way to low, right? Course they are not really available yet(need to wait 21 days).

I think everyone will want the 1/1.8" sensor instead of the 1/3" sensor ;)

1/2.7" sensor not 1/3". It is a Starlight camera.

And just to make things even more confusing, it looks like Dahua has a new 4MP 1/3" image sensor in the Lite AI series that is Starlight. Ergh. lol

So what that means? I don't know about these sensor sizes, what they mean. I assume the bigger one is the better one?

The other variants sound futile, unless there is some degree of real-world testing in specific environments. If its meeting minimum specs but can't perform as well as the 5231 and the newer 54xx series, then I would steer away from it, lol
There's only so much one can do in such a small foam factor. This IPC-HDW3441T-ZAS Varifocal turret has somehow managed to meet Starlight specifications. According to Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY ), he does not have any plans to stock this model; so we won't be able to get any feedback anytime soon. Andy only stocks the best; not all Lite models are going to be a win. We won't be seeing a 4mp (or even 8mp for that matter) varifocal turret with a 1/1.8" sensor by Dahua anytime soon, at least according to Andy, but if we do, I hope to be the first one to receive a review unit and post results here, haha :D

Disappointing to hear. Getting all my research in and making my decisions towards these 4MP lines, but wanted varifocal turrets for front of my garage. Guessing now I'll need to select another varifocal turret for front porch/entry (HDW5831R-ZE maybe) with ample night time lighting and use that as my focal length guide in selecting one of the fixed focal 4MP cams.

Assuming the 5MP line I've seen a link here or there about is probably a long ways away too.
