DAHUA Camera + NVR LPR and Face Rec Functionality

Quick Q for those in the know.
Both my cameras (HDW5231R-Z, and HDW4231EM-AS) expose Facial Capture and LPR interfaces on my DAHUA NVR (5216-4KS2), however they don't appear to function. Is this a firmware/setup thing or is it just a case of the NVR being so generic that it exposes controls that aren't really "there"?

from your Facial Capture i assume you mean Face Detection if yes you can use this face detection feature. just disable IVS and Enable Face Detection setup the config and from System>Display>preview mode>FaceList .. but for LPR you need to have LPR cameras add to NVR.

Can lpr or facial recog look profiles against known bad/criminal lists?
If a known sex offender or fbi top 10 walks to my door or drives by will it alert?
Something i could do with the data(i.e. api) if i had access to public bad lists?
What are use cases for consumers with lpr or facial recog?

Face API - Facial Recognition | Microsoft Azure

Looks like you could get creative if you are able to get the face pictures from the nvr. You could pull pictures from criminal websites from your area then run comparisons on the side.
