I’ve searched all over this forum and the net, and haven’t found an answer to my question. Keep in mind, though, that I’m a husband with the ability to look right at the spot where my wife told me she put something and not see it. So, apologies if I should have been able to find a direct answer to my simple question.

Does a larger numeric value for the Iris setting correlate to a larger (smaller aperture) f stop? If so, all other things being equal, might I expect a larger depth of field and a dimmer image with a higher Iris setting?

Of course, that ”simple” question isn’t so simple, because in the film world, we had only shutter speed and aperture to control exposure. In the digital world, we also have gain and brightness to control image characteristics. So, the follow up question to the above is, after I specify shutter speed and Iris, is exposure governed by gain, brightness, etc., or am I specifying a minimum or maximum value for these when I specify a manual shutter speed?
