Hallo,

I am trying to understand Dahua NVR parameters. Lets say that I have:

NVR4108HS-4KS2
IP inputs: 8ch
Max Input/Record: 80Mbps/80Mbps
Max Decoding: 2ch@8mpx/8ch@2mpx

The Dahua description is not clear to me. I wonder:
2. how many Mbps can I restreame to other app (like SmartPSS)? Will the bandwith be taken from those 80mbps?
1. Decoding is supposed to be what is sent to VGA or HDMI. Right? They say 2ch@8mpx/8ch@2mpx .. .could it decode 4ch@4mpx?

Some vendors state it clearer ... with Dahua I need a little help. Thank you for any suggetions? Pavel

I beleive that means you can have cameras sending a total of 80 Mbps to the NVR. (various settings like bitrate will affect this)
The decoding means the output if you will, like to SmartPSS. The two are not dependent on each other

What I dont like about dahua is the support. If I askey the Dahua directly they would redirect the question to my countrys sales department and they will most likely respond by repeating what is in catalogue or by a question asking whether I red the manual.

Looking at a better described competition - Hikvision, they state Max. input / output data stream [Mb/s] and Decoding (live preview). So they state a clear picture what bandwith can input, what bandwith it can restreame and what kind of streams it is able to decode for live stream connected directly to NVR.

It is a shame Dahua doesnt do the same.

Agreed, but I think i n this case its simply a matter of the technical language. Dahua is correct in their description.

Im trying to figure that out too. Im looking at the dahua 8 channel poe 4208p 4ks2e from andy which is the newer version with the quieter fan I think. Says 2 channels at 4k (8mp) or 8 @ 1080p (2mp). It supports ( 1 2 3 4 5 8 mp cameras. Can I have 2 8mp cams, 4 4mp cams and 2 1080p cams? Just ordered the 5442 4mp. Can i use all these different cams at once with corresponding mp? Thx.

Short answer, probably, depending on bitrate/FPS/MP of each when combined.
From the Dahua page

RECORDING- This is the max inbound Mbps you can send the NVR from the cameras regardless of what combination of 2,4,8MP cams you use. Once you reach this it wont accept any more input.
Resolution8Mp/ 6Mp/ 5MP/ 4MP/ 3MP/ 1080P/ 1.3MP/ 720P etc.
Record Rate 200Mbps
Bit Rate16Kbps ~ 20Mbps Per Channel

DISPLAY Thius is how much the NVR can decode/display -output
Decoding Capacity2ch@4K 30fps, 8ch@1080P 30fps

Either 2ch at 4K or 8ch at 1080

I have a 6 year old dahua 4208p lite with 5 1080p cams. Just ordered the 5442 varifocal bullet 4mp. Hopefully it will work with my nvr or ill have to upgrade my nvr.

Doubtful, I have two 4208-8P-4ks2's and they are running multiple 4MP 5442 cameras just fine

@gansle if you are referring to the SD5A425, then yes I purchased a couple of these and have also reviewed them HERE

Will be providing a mid term update on final thoughts in the coming days.

Have you had a chance to try out the 4mp 25x starlight + ptz yet? Think its around 700? That would prob be killer.
