I've been monitoring this site for about 5 months now and needed some cameras
I bought a couple of cameras from Andy the last week or so
Dahua HFW5231EP-Z5 and a HFW4231EP-SE
I'm using a linksys ea7500 router and a trendnet poe+ switch. Lights are on
I got the 5231 up and running and then started on the 4231
I changed the 5231 to .117 from the original .108 default in Dahua's config
It connected and all was fine

The 4231 I left as .108 and then connected as it showed up on the config screen
When I connected both cameras nothing showed up
I disconnected one of the cameras and still nothing showed up
I tried to config several times and finally did the reset thing on the camera and got one to come back
Tried to connect the second one and both are dark
Now neither one do not even show up to configure in Dahua config or Smart pss

I have tried now to reset both to default but can't get either to be recognized
Neither on show up anywhere and am not able to ping the last addresses I set. Also tried other addresses
Connected to POE switch and then tried a POE injector to see if one or the other was faulty.
I switched cat5 cables to check them also.
I see no light or anything during trying to setup now as I did originally on the small camera
I have tried to locate the cameras one by one on the router but nothing
I don't know how to try to get them up and running by using the MAC address or even know if that will work
Any ideas?

I've tried the Dahua config tool probably 20 different times and come up with nothing
I have tried to locate the cameras with two different port scanners and won't locate them
Next try will be to try a different poe switch
Thus far the cameras are dead

I've been tripped up with the config tool and port scanner by not correctly setting up the address range that they scan. It's not very obvious sometimes. With the data link light on the switch being on, I'd think the corresponding camera is active. Maybe the router's setup pages could give some clues? Good idea to try a different switch of course.

What IP range is your computer on?
Have changed the IP of the cams?

In the IP config tool, at the top, you can specify what IP range you want to scan. It will work to find the cam even if your computer is on a different IP range. But, you have to specify it at the top,, click on search setting.

Figured it out. The lights on the part of the POE+ switch have not been lighting up when I plugged in the cams I have a problem with
I had another POE switch, TP link ------------It worked and we are now able to configure Works great
