Dahua NVR - DAHUA DH-NVR 4108

This is a lite version, you will have to purchase a poe switch and a hard drive for it. Make sure it is International version and not a rebranded chinese version.

is the lack of h.265 an issue?
is it going to be slow/glitchy because its a cheap machine?

Depends on what you want. DHI-NVR4104H is not bad or good. It is made for certain purpose.

But now there is a new model to order: NVR4104HS-4KS2 or NVR4104-4KS2 that is faster and support H.265, IVS
 
I have the NVR4108-4KS2. The current firmware does not have manual snapshot in Playback.

The feature was broken in the previous release, now it's been completely removed. I think this is a serious flaw in an otherwise decent product. It forces me to create a video clip, transfer it to a USB stick, load it on my PC, run it in MPC, step to the best frame, and use the Snipping Tool to create a screenshot. Ridiculous.

Click the snapshot button in the full-screen mode, the system can snapshot picture. System supports custom snap picture saved path. Please connect the peripheral device first, click snap button on the full-screen mode, you can select or create path. Click Start button, the snapshot picture can be saved to the specified path.
 
While in Playback, I go to FullScreen. The old Snapshot icon does not appear. If I click on the Start icon, the Save icon remains inactive unless I select a Stop time. No way to save one frame. no snap icon.jpg
 
This is 3.215.0000000.3 2017-11-06. When I bought the NVR it had release .1 and the Snap icon was next to the Mark icon but was inactive. With release .2 the icon disappeared.
 
Well, i am confuesd. There is no official info about removal of the snapshot button (while in playback) from the menu. You may try priviuos versions of it's firmware. The best way can be to ask your supplier about this, cause actually, it must be there.

Also you must take the firmare from official site without customization.

I agree, nothing like that is mentioned in the release notes.

I can't go back to any previous versions; these updates contain several important bug fixes.

I get my updates directly from Dahua. NVR - Dahua Technology
 
It would be great to learn that the feature is not really missing, just moved or not obvious.
 
I've just tested NVR5108-4KS2 and the fucntion is there. But, to get a snapshot you cant press "pause' button, only shile palying a recoed file. AND a USB disk must be inserted. That is how it was )))

The NVR has official firmware version April 2017. I will try the lates one on Monday. But i do not have 4xxx.

You could also log on and use the webgui or smartPSS, I have several NVR's with the same issue, The webgui will save locally, I know it not a fix but a workaround.
