Dahua NVR not letting me add cams

I have 16 Port NVR that wont let me add cameras to the NVR . Everything is in the right subnet , but it keeps telling me that i need to delete a device before adding a camera and no cameras are installed ?

Is this a 16-port PoE NVR?
And are the cameras to be added on the LAN, not plugged in to the PoE ports?
If so - like the similar Hikvision situation - you will need to 're-use' one of the PoE ports by reconfiguring it manually as a LAN IP address.

this is a standalone 1 nic nvr . everything is connected to a seperate POE switch .

the final solution was to factory reset the NVR and see if I could add the cameras . the default ip was set and for some reason, it let me add the cameras in a different subnet . Once the cameras were added, I changed the NVR to the same subnet and all of the sudden its working as it should .. > ?
