I have seen the topic discussed many times on how to view cameras on a Smart TV but I don't know what the best solution is for viewing a Dahua NVR over the internet on a TV.

I tried TinyCam Pro on Android as well as Android TV and it was very very slow over the internet, I have 75 Mb upload speed at the site and 500 Mb download speed at home, it was just updating the frame every 5-10 seconds. Not to mention I would have to add each camera 1 by 1 and I could do this for about 200 cameras.

The gDMSS app works perfectly on Android, I am thinking maybe the best solution is to get an Android Mini PC box to hook up to the TV and install it from the Play Store or sideload the gDMSS app on an Android TV or FireStick? I think it would be overkill to have a dedicated Windows 10 box running the SmartPSS software.

Has anyone done anything like this? Looking for some feedback

Whatever you use, setup vpn, dont port forward the NVR, you will be hacked.
You will not be able run 200 cameras on an android mini pc.
Considering that a dedicated windows box can be had for 100, why not.

Wasn't trying to run 200 all at once, maybe only 9 or 16 and do a screen tour, but adding each camera individually would be a pain with TinyCam, although I could VPN in and scan the network, but again it didn't seem to stream well over the internet using TinyCam.

I am looking into this for my Hikvision NVR's. Fenderman, do you have a link to a dedicated Windows box? This is out of my league and is something I need to study up on. I just hooked the internet up to my smart TV today using Power Line adaptors. There is a spare ethernet port on the adaptor and this might just work out.

depends on what you want to run on the box and size you want...lots of options...for tiny small boxes just to display, see the optiplex micro or hp elitedesk mini...older 4th gen versions are available for 125...otherwise look at the small form factor versions of optiplex or elitedesk.

I am not sure yet with the new information I am getting. I was only going to just be able to view the NVR screen with my smart TV and see what was going on in the street areas. I was thinking of an wireless HDMI signal from the NVR. Now maybe even use a small form factor PC for other options. Now if I could download ivms-4200 onto the small PC that really changes things. Hehehehe

Ok, thanks to Fenderman I went out and purchased a small from factor pc. This one was an Acer Revo One on sale at Fry's Electronics and I bought it. This one is top of the line for that model with an i5 processor, comes with Windows 10 installed and 8GB of memory and a 1TB drive. Has all the ports that I needed including a RJ45 and a HDMI. It also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. So now I can watch all my 15 cameras on my Sony 65" smart TV. :) Plus I have the internet connection and that whole world on my large screen TV if I want to do that. Thank You Fenderman for the idea.

Edit: Plus I can go back and review old videos up to a little over 6 weeks .

I just found out about Hikvision IVMS-4200 lite and just downloaded it on my small factor PC hooked to my 65"Sony TV. It is working great. :)
