Hello, i have the Dahua NVR5216-16P-4KS2E NVR with V4.002.0000000.6.R firmware.
My NVR has the is in the 192.168.1.X range and acts as router for the cameras, assigning them 10.1.1.X IP addresses .
I tried with vlc using the rtsp:/NVR-Username:NVR-Password@NVR-LAN-IP/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0 but im getting the '
Your input can't be opened:VLC is unable to open the MRL ' Error.
Is there a way to get at the rtsp streams?

Try putting ":554" after NVR-LAN-IP

i tried with 554 . the problem is that the NVR is acting as a router and because of that the cameras are in different ip range.
The question is.Can i rtsp without assigning the cameras to the same ip range as the rest of the house?

NVR handle RTSP streams for all connected cameras (they can have any IP and they can be hidden after NVR)...
in parameter channel=1 You specify which camera channel (1 = D1, 2 = D2 etc), subtype = 0 is main stream, subtype=1 is second stream...

Proper link, remove spaces around slashes (forum software don't like rtsp links), there should be not any & as You put in Your post...

rtsp: / / user:pass@192.168.1.108/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1

Thank you steve1225 but i have the proper link.I ve done it many times before in the past. The problem is the different ip range .Is there a solution to that or i have to put them in tha same ip range as the nvr?

the Ip range of 10.x.x.x is not routable to the LAN....

That is what i need to know, the Nvr's ip is the same with the home network 192.168.1.x .The Nvr assigned the cameras ip to 10.1.1.X addresses.
Is there a setting through Nvr's web page so i can communicate with the cameras?

OK - did you put IP of NVR or camera into the link?

You should put NVR IP there.. NVR IP is routable and accessible by You...

Is NVR IP in Your network (what is NVR IP, what is Your router ip)?

Is the camera is visible on NVR (You can live view those cams on NVR webpage or by connecting to NVR in DMSS/SmartPSS)?

if both yes, then you can stream any camera feed from NVR IP, simply by editing channel parameter to proper one (if camera is third on NVR, then channel=3)..

You don't need any connection to ip camera.. and it can be NOT routable in Your network..

You shouldn't use IP camera, only NVR IP..

Just for laffs you could assign your PC or laptop a unique, static IP in the same 10.1.1.X subnet as the NVR's private server, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and plug it directly into one of the NVR's POE ports and open a browser to one of the 10.1.1.X cameras and bring up it's embedded webGUI.

If that works OK then open VLC to the RTSP stream using a 10.1.1.X IP and the following URLs (insure to place 2 "/" after "RTSP:" since the forum won't display 2 consecutively):

Code:
rtsp:/username:password@Camera-IP:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1 (sub stream)

rtsp:/username:password@Camera-IP:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0 (main stream)

Not sure why the RTSP won't come out of the NVR, am doing it now on 2 customer NVR's into Blue Iris VMS, both are Dahua-OEM.

thank you all for the responses .Unfortunately the Nvr is not routable and i can not see any camera.
i am putting NVR'S ip and it returns an error.
Under the menu Settings/Network/Bridge mode is supposed to be enabled or disabled?

If you enable bridge mode, the NVR switch becomes a straight passthru unmanaged switch on your LAN, like any other switch.
Cameras attached to it would need to be issued IPs in your LAN network range

When not enabled, the PoE switch built into the NVR is separate and issues IPs (by default) to cameras attached to the NVR in the 10.1.1.X range

Can't have both

Agreed, its a convenient security benefit of PoE NVRs.

So if you can't get to the NVR via its web GUI that's your first problem.
Solve that and use @steve1225 s method for RTSP to the cameras using the NVR address and channel and you should be good to go

There is a chance that my problem is because of the router-firewall .I recently installed pfsense .
I maybe have to see the firewall roules
