Anyone know what the difference is in these 2 mounts?

Also, when is a junction box necessary?

I'm looking at mounting my camera to either (1) to the soffit, which is 10' tall (2) two the siding, via one of the above wall mounts or junction box, (3) to a downspout via a pole mount (PFA152-E) and one of the above wall mounts or junction box.

Can someone offer advice on placement? Sorry for the quick and dirty drawing below.

Coverage for corners 1, 2, and 3 are being setup because of an issue with that neighbor. I can put a camera at corner 1 attached to the soffit. I then have to cover the side yard along corners 2 and 3. There are no soffits on this side so any cameras would have to mount to the wall or downspout. My original plan had 3 cameras at corner 3 to cover the 270 degrees. Instead, I'm thinking of mounting cameras at corners 2 and 3, giving cross coverage of both the yard and the cameras. Corner 3 still will need 3 cameras and there is a downspout in the way, so I would have to mount it to the downspout. I may be able to eliminate some cameras from corner 3 if I set some up at corner 4.

Make sure you are using the correct mount. There is also the PFB200W

Another consideration is a junction box will drop your camera that much lower so that when soffit mounting, it's not blocked by the fascia.

Does anyone know which one of these mounts will work with the Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW? Thanks.

Based on this link, I believe it will be the PFB203W for the vertical wall mount and PFA130-E for the junction box.

Looks like Amcrest uses the same model number with a prefix of AMC.

Yes it looks like the 203 for that cam..
Buy on Amazon / ebay -- a bit cheaper

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but is there a size difference between PFB203 and PFB204? The fixed 5442 cameras are quite a bit smaller than the varifocal versions, and the hole pattern is different. Wondering if there is overall size difference in the mount as well? Data sheet shows them the same down to a MM.

Trying to decide between varifocal and fixed in terms of asthetics.

When you mount the 5442, it sits about one-half inch inside the outer mount ring vs. flush with the mount edge (like a larger 2231 varifocal would do).

The 5442 looks really nice on the mount.

For mounting IPC-T3241T-ZAS on a pole, what mount to use?
PFB203W or PFB204W.

I want the end result look something like this (copied it from other user, forgot whom ):

The only down side, for both of these mount, is no much room for extra cable (as opposed to PFA130-E)

I followed the lead of another forum member and mounted mine on a pvc post. What's great about it is that you have all the room in the world inside the post to make the connections.

Sounds like a great idea, but not sure it's durable enough (for me, when mounting from the floor).
Does the IPC moves in a strong wind?
If something (basketball for example) hits the PVC pole will it break?

Doesn't move at all in the wind, and pvc is quite strong. I would be more worried about having a basketball hit the camera than I would hitting the post. Also, the post can easily be spray-painted to match the surroundings.

I couldn't find such PVC, is there a special name for this rectangular PVC?

Try PVC fence post.

It you really want something strong, you could use a galvanized metal post. This is how I mounted my Color 4K-X yesterday. By using a backbox, you would have plenty of room for the cable hookup.

Looks like the best option for me.
I cannot find PVC fense post in my country (can only find round ones).
In the US I can find them, but shipping cost is high, so local metal post is prefered.
