Hi,
I saw sow new cameras from Dahua with a new technology called "Smart Dual Light".
Basically it has two lights; an IR and a warm light.
Is someone familiar with it and can recommend of a camera which use this?
Thanks.

Would need more info about the camera. However most real Dual Light cameras will work correctly. That is the camera is in IR until there is an Event and then the camera will go from IR to White Leds and record the event in full color at night.. Some cameras that have extra options can be setup rather then full time white on to flash the led and keep recording in B/W. Normally when it is said to be Smart Dual Light that is going to be IR at night until event and then White leds on to record event in Color.

What is the model of camera?

White light coming on when motion is detected is not possible with the 2449 series. You either have white light on or infrared on at night.

It is possible with the 3449 series where the camera can be in infrared and the white light come on with motion.

Link to camera is 4mp with color night white led, I have both types. Color cameras with white leds and dual light. However some cameras with dual light don't always work the way I want them all the time.

Most of these that say Smart Dual Light or TIOC have dual illuminators (IR and White) .....but some have different features on how light is activated as @wittaj mentions.
So some are "Smarter" than others

Example 3449 series. White Light LEDs can be activated by IVS Tripwire using Smart Illumination.

Thanks. it looks good.
The IPC-HDW2449T-S-PRO specs look good.
I wonder if someone could take a look and share their advice?

I did take a look and commented - the 2449 is the lite version without all the bells and whistles. Even the video is poorer on it than the 3449.

Go with the 3449 series - better in every aspect.

Thought the 2449 was the Pro version? What I know of the 3449 and looking it up says it has smaller sensor? I mean maybe I didn't look at the right pro version?

Off what I seen on the data sheet from OP that one says Pro with 1/1.8 in sensor?

Just asking?

The 3449 Pro has the 1/1.8 as does the 2449 Pro turret
The others use the small “not made for 4MP” sensor I think

Thanks.
About the aperture of 3449H, it is F1.0 (in compare to F1.6 in 5442).
I believe it is more suitable for covering a closer distance?
Does it less effective concerning its events' detection capabilities?

If you need closer focus capability, a lens with a shorter focal length (wider field of view) is more important than just a lower f-number

F/1.0 would have better ability at low light then say a 1.6 or 2.0. Would want to find a camera with a good mm like 2.8 to 4mm at f/1 would have in most cases a better closer distance view and slightly blurry background then say a 6mm or 12mm lens with a 1.6f-stop. So to be clear, no matter the f/stop the 12mm lens can see better farther away, then a 2.8mm that would have a better closer range view again no matter the fstop of the camera lens..
